This week's inconsistencies

The Secret Circle is…I don’t know. I don’t want to hate it. On its own, it’s an okay show. But I can’t help but compare it to the books.
1. Diana and Faye may or may not be cousins. Diana’s father claimed to be dating Faye’s mother on tonight’s episode. This doesn’t sound like a big deal, but Diana and Faye’s relationship was a very important part of the books. One of the MOST important aspects of it, actually. Just like their appearances were important. Faye was dark and dangerous and Diana was light and pure. Complete opposites of each other in every way.
2. Nick is still sleeping with Melissa. He. Would. Never. Do. That. One of the girls described him as a lizard/reptile/something similar, saying he was cold. He didn’t even notice anyone until Cassie showed up. Nick was one of the best characters in the books and they are destroying him.
3. Cassie and Sally are friends. Sally is supposed to hate the circle. They push her (and everyone else in the school) around, she knows what they are and she resents them. And she was very jealous of Cassie.
4. Diana’s father was not evil. He was caught up in work, and that’s about the extent of his character’s involvement in the books. He never would have killed Cassie’s mother. (Cassie didn’t go to New Salem because of her mother’s death, she went because her grandmother was “sick.”)
5. And lastly, maybe the worst thing they’ve done to the storyline…Diana keeps trying to befriend Cassie, and Cassie isn’t having it. Meanwhile, in the books, she was DESPERATE to befriend Diana. She thought if she could just become friends with her, everything would be better. Then once they did become friends, all she did was worry about protecting Diana’s feelings (you know, when she wasn’t kissing her boyfriend). It doesn’t make any sense.
Like I said, this show is probably good on its own, but it doesn’t even come close to how amazing the books were. And I still don’t understand the point of buying the rights to something just so you can completely change the story around.

I'm not sure how I neglected to post this here

The entire reason I wanted to see Catch Me If You Can (before I watched the movie and found out that Aaron Tveit was also in it...I live under a rock, it seems) was because Kerry Butler was in it. She's my favorite Broadway actress and I love this song.

It's a Hidden Cthulhu

You know, like the Hidden Mickeys at Disney. (Taken from The Lovecraft Anthology.)

This is everything I love in one game

Darkness Within is a horror themed point and click adventure game, where you play as a detective, inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's work.
I love horror point and clicks. So much. Shivers is one of my favorite games ever, I still have it. I've had it since 1995. I'll have it for the rest of my life. So the fact that Darkness Within is also a point and click is fine with me.
Playing as a detective? Amazing.
Lovecraft? Do I even need to elaborate here? If you've been around, you know my obsession with his work.
I bought this on Desura. It's $9.99, you should buy it.

The human world is a mess.

As a Disgaea veteran, I had very high expectations for Disgaea 4, the newest game in the strategy RPG series. With the exception of the second game, they've all managed to combine hardcore gameplay with storylines that are both funny and charming while still having a message behind them. Even with my expectations set so high, this game managed to exceed them.
Warning: Minor spoilers ahead.
